Chicks and mites

Recommended Posts

Hi all -- suspect this is my first post here so it'll have to be a quick one as we need some advice in an emergency :)

We've had chicks hatch today (which is great) but found a lot of mites at the same time (which is not great). We have diatomaceous earth to hand -- is it safe to put in the chicks' bedding? Is it safe/practical to dust them?

Is there a better alternative?

Many thanks!

Hi have they been broody reared if so are they redmite because you will need to get them out the house put them in a cat carrier or something while you spray the house out with poultry shield all my broody houses get treated and mums get ivermectin on them before sitting when the house is dry it will fine to chuck De around but if its a bad outbreak the powder wont help leanne :)
