AlisonH
My 2 chooks completely stopped laying over the summer. No eggs at all and, horror of horrors, I had to buy some eggs last week - the first box for 2 years, I was gutted. Over the summer the suggestions for not laying were: the heat - but they didn't start when it got cooler mites - but I could find no evidence and treated just in case moulting - they did it twice out of date food - so I bought some new Having kept them in this week for routine worming they have suddenly started to lay again and I'm convinced it's because they're not out eating all the dropped fruit from the gooseberries and blackcurrants. So thinking they'd never lay again, and hubbies' threat of the pot was getting ever more serious, they've redeemed themselves and I've got a lovely box of fresh eggs once more Hurrah!
