Tracy T
I have 3 new girls and its only Mrytle that has started laying over the past week. All's going well and we're waiting for the others to start but a problem has broken out over treat time in the pm. They used to all share well but since Myrtle has started laying she seems to takes the other two having their treat with her as a personal offence and takes every opportunity to have a peck at them. My daughters report that once she hung onto Emily's comb for quite some time. Is this normal? Can I hope that things will settle back down once they are all laying? buffie
Mrytle is more mature that's all Tracy, it is quite normal. Had the same over the years with ours. Tilly was immature when we had her, pale comb etc and they picked on her. Now she is fully grown they all get on a treat. That's hens for you BBx
robskyd
We're in the same boat... Doris is a right little madam and takes it out on Ruby who is a less mature bird. If we show affection to Ruby (e.g. pick her up) then Doris takes it as a personal insult. Luckily Maddie gets in her way some times and gives her a "come on, its not worth it" kind of a look!! I've read a few threads concerning this and it seems the best thing to do is just leave them to it, making sure the picked on bird still gets food and water.
