LunaKiw1
we have two 3 year old hybrids who no longer lay. Their appetities have decreased - even for treats - and they seem a bit lethargic, depsite additives like Chicken Spice. We still feed them Layers Mash but wondered whether there is something special for older birds? They never liked pellets - hence used to mash only. Thank you! Redwing
I would switch them to growers pellets or mash (non medicated so without ACS) this should support them a bit better A little corn, pigeon conditioner or wheat in the evening would also help as would a bit of green stuff if they will eat it If they wont eat those then a little cod liver oil mixed with the mash would do them some good Apart from that I wouldnt go down the road of anything more special as many would suggest porridge, scrambled eggs etc etc as then you will make a rod for your own back! LunaKiw1
Thanks Redwing - we'll try that change then. They do like a bit of corn at tea time and we've noticed they'll still eat that up even when ignoring other treats although warm porridge is also still appreciated. The cold liver oil tip is a good idea too. Thry're both going through a protracted moult, silly things, but otherwsie still seem happy enough pottering about.
