acw295
Hi, help please! 3 out of my 4 pekins are broody, and one has been at it for a couple of weeks now. I know I need to stop them, but do I need to do all of them at the same time? I have read the other threads about using a wire basket and I have a wire cat basket so can use that, but it won't fit in our small run (our run is very long and narrow) as they mostly free range (run is 75cm wide and about 3m long). I'd be worried about leaving them just out in the basket when we aren't there (which will be 6 hours or so every day in the week) or at night though, and there won't be room for all 3 of them in it at once. Would I be better off buying a small rabbit run instead and putting two of them in it at once, and then the other one later? Perhaps something like this but blocking the house bit off? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wooden-Outdoor-Triangle-Rabbit-Hutch-and-Run-Guinea-Pig-Ferret-Coop-Cage-Running-/150904025174?pt=UK_Pet_Supplies_Small_Animals&hash=item232294b056 It could go on the patio next to the existing run so they can see the others? The run we have is on the patio with woodchip floor over winter (grass in summer). Budget is tight so can't afford to spend too much
chuckmum6
You are doomed with Pekins! Mine are nearly constantly broody from March - September, they a devils to snap out of it too! Can lock them out of the nestbox? If so deprive them of any comfy nest.
