stumpyhusband
Hello all! I'm trying to find a Channel 4 documentary about battery hens by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall - "Hugh's Chicken Run", it's something my wife has been telling me about but strangely it seems to have been pulled from Youtube etc.. Any chance anybody can point me in the right direction please? Thanks.
Beantree
Is that the programme about 4 years ago when Hugh set up his own broiler farm and employed someone from the Industry to manage it for him? They had to go through the shed every day and kill injured birds. The stench from poo became unbearable. In the end he was in floods of tears and "never wanted to kill another chicken". The idea was to show people just what the birds had to suffer to provide cheap meat. It's moved on since then. Birds are now slaughtered at just 5 ½ weeks. Sorry, I can't help with directions. stumpyhusband
From what my wife has described to me, yes, that's it. Any pointers from others appreciated... It makes me wonder why it's apparently pulled from Youtube, I guess the industry didn't like the truth!
