littlegem
One of my chickens is laying eggs with thinner shells than the other ones and bits floating in the white........some are blood spots but others look like black bits. They don't look very appetising so I throw them away. Anyone got any ideas what is causing it. The chicken is actually fine. Thanks in advance. Beantree
This can be a by-product of immunisation Littlegem. It's the IB virus I think. Commercial eggs are screened and the bad ones thrown out. Guess it will be something you have to live with.
littlegem
Thanks Beantree must admit that sounds really bad though to a novice like me......what's the IB virus and should you throw the eggs away what if people have been eating them. Some people are not as fussy as me.
Beantree
Not sure eating them is bad, they just look bad Littlegem. We have now got a hen laying wind eggs with bits of all sorts in them. The dilemma is, will she get better or do we cull? She hasn't been immunised so that's not the reason. We can't afford to feed a hen that isn't laying, no matter how pretty she is, and she is the best in the flock by a long way.
