Knitting cables from a chart

I have always done a lot of aran knitting and I am very used to reading the instructions on the pattern. I wanted to make a Debbie Bliss pattern but was put off a bit as the cable pattern is shown on a chart which looked hideous. (I think it might be a US style pattern)

 

Well, I am always up for a challenge so I have started it. I have to say it is really easy to follow once you have got your head around it and it makes so much more sense seeing the pattern depicted visually.

 

Just thought I would post in case anyone else is a bit nervous about a cable chart
