Ingrowing feathers

Recommended Posts

We have two Buff Orpington cocks which are having a bad time though a heavy moult. Both have stunted ingrowing feathers on their 'parsons nose' which are giving them some considerable discomfort to the extent that touching them and they squeal. One had an ingrowing feather on his leg and trouble walking which we initially put down to over-Calcium but now have found the feather to his instant relief. We've managed to get the ingrowing feathers through the skin and remove the puss. Put Teatree cream in the areas as it always works wonders for us (not licensed for poultry I think).

Is this a common problem with Orpingtons, or specifically Buff? We've never noticed it before.
