Knitting Needles

Recommended Posts

I've just gone through my knitting needle bag (yes, there are more important things I should be doing!) and sorted them all into pairs. By the way, I can't remember if I saw this tip on here or somewhere else, but if you have any contact with a child under 12, you've probably been infested with loom bands. They are brilliant for keeping pairs of needles together.

Some of my needles are quite old and are not in metric sizing. Luckily I have a gauge, inherited with the needles, and I've downloaded a chart and sized them all up. My smallest pair are 13s, which is 2.25 mm. Then I glanced at the gauge and realised it goes down to size 24 - I can't find a metric equivalent, but it's smaller than a darning needle, can't imagine how tiny the stitches would be!

I just wondered if anyone else has 'vintage' needles like mine, or do you prefer bamboo or plastic to metal?

Here's a picture of my needle gauge.
