auntielizzie
I promise I'm not going to post every day for the rest of their lives, but I thought you might be interested to hear how the little ones are settling in.... They spent the night with the big girls I got up extra early to let them all out and put my two big girls in the eglu for the day as I was going to be out at work all day and didn't want to take any chances The big girls were more than happy with this as they are used to the eglu because its normally in their FR area, and of course at the moment it has the novelty of grass being on the lawn (not for long I hear you all say ). Anyway, they both laid today Back to the little ones; one egg in the nest box Two eggs in the run Top hen Elsie had been asserting herself, so I have three purple-combed chickens (and a purple faced and necked me ). Couldn't wait to get home from work; I let them all out into the FR area together and they're all so good. My big girls have been so patient The bonus is that they keep Elsie in check and she lets them be in charge. I got them all in to the run before it started getting dark and then the two big girls went up the ramp to bed. One little hen followed them up The other three were all a bit anxious and unsettled and didn't quite seem to know what to do, so I popped them all in. Five minutes later, they're all sat on the roosting bars with the big girls It's all going well so far. Oh and I think I'll be needing some more chicken food at the weekend - they eat loads
