Lydia
I'm the regional co-ordinator for Berkshire for BHWT rescues and rehoming and we have another rehoming day coming up on Saturday 12 March. At the moment we've got room in our van for more hens to experience a free range life. If you want to make a hen's Easter eggstra special, then please get in touch with BHWT and book some girls. Email hens@bhwt.org.uk or call 01884 860084. Or see their website at www.bhwt.org.uk. If you've never had ex-commercial hens before, they are the most lovely girls you could imagine and it is hugely rewarding watching them scratch the ground, dust bathe and find their feet in the outside world for the first time. All they need is a bit of tlc and patience and they'll reward you with many hours of entertainment. Most will lay an egg for another year but some will go on for a while. We have an ex-caged lady who was released in 2012 and has just come back into lay! We rehome from a location in Crowthorne and I have a really wonderful team of volunteers who always go the extra mile for the girls. We would love to fill our extra crates and give more ladies a chance of a free range life so, you have space for some ginger ninjas in your life, please do get in touch with BHWT.
