I have three hens on order for pick up later in the year and am planning on starting out with a cube with 2m run plus an extension. The plan is to move this around initially and see how we go. As its possible that morehens will strike at some stage I was thinking that if this happened then I would perhaps buy the 2mx2m low WIR can this be attached to cube with run extensions? As price wise it would be similar to buying 3 extensions ( Allowing maximum of 6 hens) They will free range at least once a week probably more but as we go out of town often I want them to have as much room as possible.

 

Once I get up to the 6 they will be definitely be in a fixed position.

Two observations:

 

(1) Once you have hens, you'll want more. Looking after six hens is no more work than looking after two or three.

(2) the hens will be perfectly happy in an extended run, but a walk-in run will bring innumerable benefits for you!
