Broody chicken in hot weather worries

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm wondering if if you could help me please.

We've just had a chicken go broody, which is fine atm and fingers crossed we seem to have stopped her. BUT my worry is we are away end of June for two weeks and my neighbour is looking after the girls. I'm a bit concerned that one could go broody whilst we are away and if it's very hot could be very dangerous for her. Not sure what I can ask him to look out for in one or two visits a day to make sure all is okay? Also wondering if there's any thing I can do to make the heat less of an issue in the coop (we have an eglu inside a walk in.)?? All advice would be very gladly welcomed.

Thank you so much!
