chickweed
Many years ago I had a few chickens and a dog called Bess. The chickens soon learned that titbits of undigested food could be found in dog poo. The chickens always beat me in the race to clear it up....the poo had barely touched the ground! Bess came to hate those chickens, they mobbed her every time she went into the garden, and she never retaliated. I have memories of "Benny Hill" moments, with Bess being chased into the kitchen by a posse of flapping chickens. Mr Fox saw off the chickens,so Bess was able to live a long and peaceful life in a hen -free zone. The chooks hadn't got round to laying, I could not have eaten their eggs! KeymerKim
Olly!! I laughed out loud when I read your comment - then I felt a bit sick. Mind you, my cats are the same if they get to it first. Quite revolting. xx
The Bantam of the Opera
When i put one of my new little bantams in the run whic had already been used by the reds she started chowing down on the other chickens poop. It was only the one time but still put me off her eggs for a while. Then again, i eat my reds eggs and they eat slugs which is pretty revolting.
