got a 1kg tub of garlic powder from the stables near us but there's no instructions on it!!! Help, how much powder do I put in their layers mash???

Mine (from Omlet) has a small scoop - about a tea spoon size, & I add one of those, plus one of poultry spice every time I fill up their Grub of pellets.

DH is using a trowl (a clean one) as a scoop for the layers mash- would you think 1 teaspoon per 2 heaped scoops of mash was about right?

sounds about right - if two trowels-worth is a Grubfull? I don't use mash so I can't gauge how much it would be!

 

You can't go too far wrong, add that for now and if it doesn't seem to be working on the smell at the other end, try increasing the dosage. The chooks don't seem to notice the taste.

Poet, I would say that if it coats the mash slightly & smells a little bit like walking past Pizza Express, then you have got it right

I give 4 tsps for every full (Mk 2) Grub. Or thereabouts, it's been a while since I used a spoon.

 

i experimented with feeding from the scoop in the mornings, to give them something to do and save my legs, but the poo in the Eglu stunk to high heaven, the garlic makes a marked difference.

 

If I feed spice like that it sinks all the way to the bottom of the Grub. I feed it in a mix of stuff like porridge, yoghurt and rice, etc, as a treat once a week in winter.

 

With panacur, since they're not laying, and a good deworming never did any harm.
