Becka
Does anyone have a compost tumbler? They supposedly make compost in two weeks as you tumble (turn) them twice a day. Sounds fantastic but I am a bit unsure because I use hemcore bedding and I'm not sure it would compost that fast! I like the idea but would like to hear from someone who has either had success with them or thinks they might work in principal! Many thanks! Hemcore will not decompose very quickly, especially in two weeks. I do not have one, but have read some feedback from people who have. I do not want to put you off, so perhaps you should do a google search or look on some gardening sites for feedback there - you can even post the question. I am rather dubious as to the claims of making viable compost in two weeks though! Hemcore can leech some of the nitrogen out of the soil if you do not compost it first, but it depends where you want to put it. In theory if it is a mixture of chicken litter which is high in nitrogen, then one should balance the other. Seriously though, as they are so expensive, do check it out first and draw your own conclusion if it will suit your needs. And take into accoun the amount of waste that you have to dispose of and whether the bin will accommodate it - also if you will be able to turn it so often when it is full- composing waste gets ver heavy - you ask my back
