xChicken04x
Hi everyone, firstly, I'm not sure what section this is supposed to be in, but its about chickens so I'll post here. As you may know, we are thinking of getting either sexed chicks or quail in the spring. We saw a feild ark is £259 at our lacal chicken breeder which we thought about buying. By off chance I went on ebay after seeing Poet's post on her chicken house and saw the same ark for only £90 as a "buy it now" price, its also an ex-display one aswell so there has never been any chickens in there, and they deliver for only £12! This is it http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=280191194907&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:PIC&ih=018 Do you think it could be for quail and chicks, if we built a run for them? I know quail don't put them selves to bed at night, but I wouldn't mind rounding them up. Its also quite tall so they wouldn't hit their heads if they get scared (which they do.) So what do you think? xx
bronze
Looks good to me I have just bought this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=220189028789&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=012 for my quail. To be honest it seems that quail are kept in houses and containers of all shapes and sizes. the good thing about the one you're looking at is that it might be more flexible between chicks and quail. what type of quail were you looking at? Hi, thank you for your advice, I think we would get either Japanese or Italian quail, what kind do you have? And how are they will going to bed? The reason we thought of that one is because of the head room (for quail) and the chicks could use it easily too xx
bronze
I'm getting assorted Japs. My eggs are being sent wed, oooh. Italians from what I can gather are a type of jap, just a different colour. I'm getting what ever he has but they'll all be normal (wild coloured), cinnamon, fawn or italian japs. That way I can sex them at 15 days. xChicken04x
Oh are they? I thought Japanese where from Japan and Italian are from Italy I've got 2 quail books on order, so that I think I will read them and decide what to get. The only problem is we don't have any quail breeders near us, do you think hatching eggs would be a bit too risky? What are you doing with any males you get? Anyway getting back to the hen house, I'm really not sure what to do, and times ticking away... xx
