How much space do they need?

Recommended Posts

How much (or little) space do ducks need? At moment the 4 runners ducks are in the garden and have a pen for when I am out, night sleeping quarters too.

I will soon be moving to tiny garden and might have to just give them a 14 x14 ft sized pen, with their paddling pool in, although I am worried about MRFOXY taking them as it will be on a farm, would I be better giving them to a new home to stay safe and have freedom?

Hi,

My 4 ducks have now all gone to live locally in an acre of garden and a pond that is 3 x bigger than my garden, so could not refuse them such an oportunity, have missed them. Then have found someone who has 8 ducks living in a pen a little bit larger than my pen and are NEVER let out, so my lot had it OK really. Later in the summer I shall get another two and keep to that number, hopefully boy/girl and not two boys. Have sold duck statley home - very large house, and have a house big enough for 2 only, so no overnight friends allowed. Also on the canal we have not seen any girls or ducklings for the last 8 weeks, very strange, last year we had a real nursery experience with lots of mummies showing of their brood, diminishing by the day sadly, quite a few did survive, but not seen any yet!
