argent13uk
Hello all, we went to visit a farm yesterday (Finkley Down Farm in Andover) and they had some lovely hens. The runs were massive but I noticed they were on gravel. Thought this was a good idea instead of chipped wood. Any thoughts/comments? feemcg
My back garden is just decking, a path and a large area of gravel/stones and the chooks seem quite happy free-ranging all day (saying that, they don't know any different). The poo gets mixed in with the stones then washed away when it rains. Any occasional weeds that come up through the membrane under the stones is quickly eaten, and the garden generally stays quite tidy looking. Keanie Bean
It would save having to replace the bark chippings every few months or so when they start to rot down. I would worry it was a bit hard under foot for them though. Sarah.x
