meezers
they peck at each others beaks ? I was watching them do this yesterday and at first thought it was a submissive thing as the timid ones were doing it to the bolder chooks (almost like chicks asking for food ), but then I noticed they were taking turns, the one whose beak is being pecked seems to enjoy it but I can't see what 'the pecker' is getting out of it, there's no food stuff on their beak, anyone know what it's about ? Egluntyne
Bonding? Grooming? Mine clean eachothers beaks when they have had yoghurt or porridge.
Minky
Mine clean eachothers beaks when they have had yoghurt or porridge. That's a very generous description - mine just grab any last remaining crumbs off/out of eachothers beaks, greedy Madames! Hilda's often 'whatyougot? whatyougot' at Maude's beak even when she's not got anything!!
Chickaboo
Phoebe does this to Daphne, (she is the more dominat one) but its never the other way round. Daphne just stands very still whilst she gets cleaned !!
Strepsy
I was wondering about this too. Bob does it to Pepsi. Pepsi doesn't seem to mind just blinks rapidly. lol.
