Gentle1973
My husband and I are having a "discussion" at the moment! He wants two more Frizzles. We have one and they seem to be virtually impossible to get hold of. I would like to get two black Silkies, but he says they are show birds and don't lay many eggs, so they're not the right one to get, as we do really keep them for the eggs. Please could someone let me know if he is right in what he says?!!! Many thanks
Janty
Sorry that I can't help with the egg debate but you have to admit, frizzles are cute.
superjules
Silkies have a reputation for being very good broody birds, but no, they don't lay many eggs and are also prone to other problems such as lice because they just want to sit on a hot nest all day long. My DD wants one, but I won't let her. We compromised and she got some bantams that are easy enough for her to handle (she's 4) but which also lay well from march to november. Her pekin is her favourite, she started laying 30g eggs on easter sunday and has had one day off so far.
