Steph101
Has anybody had one of these? Barbara laid two these this week, and I've noticed her crop is really bulging and her bottom looks wet. Any ideas? Steph
Egluntyne
Is her crop bulging first thing in the morning?

Egluntyne
You could try massaging it, and giving her a sip or two of olive ol to lubricte thens a bit. Has she been eating long grass? That might be the cause of the problmem. If her crop is impacted she will not be getting much in the way of nutrients. Can you get hold of some fishermans maggots (Undyed?). A few of these may well be able to unblock her crop by boring through the matted ball of vegetble matter. If she will eat anything, a bit of probitic yoghourt mixed in might help. A trip to the vet's might be on the cards I'm afraid.
Steph101
Oh blimey! I hope not. I'll try all of those things first and see how she goes. I don't want to lose her.
Egluntyne
When I say I mean a trip to the vet's might be on the cards....I meant for a consultation! Sorry if you thought I meant something more final!
Steph101
No, but I've been reading about surgery to treat this.. hope it doesn't come to that.
Egluntyne
Try the maggots and the yoghurt. It can make a dfference. Just out of interest....is her crop firm or soft and squidgy, like a waterfilled balloon?
Steph101
It was my son that felt it last night, he said it was really firm. When I looked in the droppings tray this morning though, there was a large grassy clump of poo - I'm hoping that she might have managed to pass some of it naturally.
