debbie26pet
when i let mine out to free range they go mad over a bucket water top of garden, which has rain water in, i fill there tub up in there run with tap water but they seem to prefer the bucket. im thinking getting a water butt filling from there, what do others do will it harm them? The Bantam of the Opera
i put out bowls of water all over the garden for my hens, since they free range, but they'd still rather drink some rancid puddle they happen across. i think mine are just weird though. Egluntyne
Mine prefer to drink from a dirty puddle than. I reckon they don't like chlorine. I let water stand before I top up their glugs. I'm not sure if water from a butt would possibly be too stagnant for them.
Eyren
Water from a butt might well be nasty - there was a discussion recently on GYO about how to sanitise your butt water (please, no jokes!) as it can also kill seedlings through contamination with fungal spores, etc. I think animals in general don't like tapwater - my Burmese are the first cats I've had that will drink water straight from the tap (presumably they were brought up on it!).
