Nest Etiquette

Recommended Posts

We have 4 big girls in one eglu and 4 bantams in another. Both 'flocks' now free range separated by netting.

But some are becoming a bit cheeky and like to test this arrangement.

One of our bantams has taken to invading the big girls' space and laying her eggs in their eglu.

This morning we were amazed to find big Josephine Chuckles and little Pom Pom sitting on the nest box together.

Cluck (boss big chook) was making a racket about it but did not attack.

Is there some kind of hen law that stops them fighting with an 'outsider' who is laying an egg?
