bennyboy
Hello, I'm in the process of creating a permanent run for my Eglu. I've seen some nice 6 inch planking which will look good and chunky, but it'll take me forever to fill it up with mulch etc. The Omlet guide suggests a depth of just 5cm/2 inches...Shall I get a skinny base or something more substantial? ajm200
You may find that a nice deep base on the run will be a good thing. You don't have to fill it to the top but it will stop the chickens throwing the bedding out of the run. They can make an incredible amount of mess when they are scratching around. Lots of people have put a 'skirt' around the base of the eglu runs to stop the chickens throwing the bedding out, Edited April 7, 2008 by Guest
bennyboy
Good point about not filling it up... Never though of that!
