MedusA
I don't believe this!!! Having smugly claimed on another post to have girls who don't lay softies, and obviously as a lesson in "not tempting fate", Treacle has laid 2 softies in a row, bless her. I do give the girls all their eggshells (baked and crushed) back to them, mixed in with their feed. Obviously this is not enough. Treacle is usually my most reliaible layer. She only had 4 days off last month. I'm surprised as she seems perfectly fine and not off-colour at all. I've ordered some limestone flour to add to their food and will cut down on treats to make sure they eat a balanced diet. Maybe I've been a bit too soft myself in that department recently, and she's filled up on treats instead of "proper" food. Any other tips? Keeping chickens is a constant learning curve! Ain't Nobody Here
My Maisie laid 2 softies and a crumpled baggy thing last month. I got all worried but then she laid a whopper, then a normal size and hasn't looked back since. I didn't even get the chance to give her any limestone flour . MedusA
That's reassuring, ANH. Let's hope it's just a blip then, and I will have the limestone flour anyway. I think we cross posted with each other on different threads just then (just posted on your "worried...." thread.
