cluckbok
Do hens yawn?? Just that our speckledy is sitting down in the middle of the run perfectly fine but opening her beak wide and then shutting it again. She did it a few times. Now she's just pecking around like she usually does. Not seen them do that before. Do hens yawn? Or is she getting some extra air Looks like she's trying to crow!! she better not!! She's definately a she!!
Sarah B
My Tikka does this sometimes, I think it's a beak stretch personally as I'm not sure if they do yawn, but Tikka is always dropping off anyway If it's constant and the chicken is not well it could be a sign of Gapeworm but it sounds to me like yours is just doing the beak stretching thing. They are daft
jomaxsmith
My Coral does it, usually when they're free ranging, so I assume it is a way of pushing food down the throat or something. She doesn't do it constantly and I've not noticed the others doing it so I don't think it's worms or anything serious. Jo
cluckbok
We've wormed them with Verm-X, So hope it isn't that. It's the first time I seen her do it. She's not laying yet either, we had them nearly 5 weeks. The other two are laying but apparently speckledys don't lay as many eggs per year as the other two. But yeah that beak thing was funny, looked like she was crowing but with no noise coming out!!!
