SAB
My 2.5 year old guinea pig, whom I have always believed to be female (genitals certainly look female) has started trying to mount her female housemate - any one else come across this? Scooby
My boys (brothers) do this too. I may be wrong, but I think it is just a sign of dominence. I got our boys neutered and it still happens which causes me to think that may be the reason.
SAB
thanks - we were thinking it was dominance issue - neither seems distressed by it, so we are not too worried
pelicano
Yes, definitely a dominance thing. Just watch out in case it turns into bullying, but I'm sure it will be fine.
SAB
Seemed to calm down after we took the larger one out to check sexual organs once more to ensure it was female - I think this must have showed that humans are dominant!
hellomotto12345
When sows are in season, they tend to mount each other.
SAB
yep - that was what was happening!
pacman
Yes. Don't worry too much. Probably just one of your lady pigs showing the other who's boss!
SAB
That was ages ago and has stopped now - exactly as you suggest, dominance stuff!
