AJuff
Has anyone got a photo of 6 hens in a cube run? Exactly how much room have they got/not got?
Couperman
We had six in a standard Cube run, It works well in the summer when they can play out a lot. In the winter it is a different matter. We have had a few problems with serious feather pecking and it got quite nasty at one point which I put down to lack of space, not necessarily true (maybe a chicken personality disorder thing) but they do look a little cramped. I have built a new run because of the problems we had. If you intend to keep six, especially on a permanent site I would buy the run extension. That way they may never develop nasty habits, and trust me, nasty chicken habits are hard to break. In my opinion the standard run is only suitable for four hens unless moved a lot with plenty of free ranging (as Omlet intended). As far as photos go I will see if I can find a picture. I hope this helps. Kev
Olly
The Cube run is not huge. I've got five in a run with one extension, and I'm thinking of getting a second extension for the winter. Unless they can free-range a lot, every day, I think six in a standard run would be too many.
