AJuff
Has anyone tried using the new drip feeders (the type that come with the cube) in an eglu? Not sure how high up they can go. I'm sick of the chooks pooing and scratching muck into their water!
DW
They need to go pretty high up - so that the hen's neck is extended as she drinks. The best place to attach it is on the run end - i.e. above the run door. D.
safari chick
Hi Ive ordered one for my eglu as I dont think the peanut ones are big enough - nothing worse than running out of water to drink! I read on one of the forums that you can hang them quite high and most hens can work out how to use them - but some cant. For those you need one of the peanut bowls. Ive also read that even in a heavy frost the hens can still get the water out. I havent got my exbats yet but I'm counting the days!
Mutrix Farmers
I don't know how much water hens drink during a hot summer, but my three certainly don't drain the glug water container we have in the Eglu. I would have thought that it was sufficient for the standard number of birds Omlet recommend for the eglu, or surely they would make it bigger?
