Our First 3 Egg Day - UPDATED - Ist 4 Egg Day!

Recommended Posts

Woww!! Went to the eglu today & Miso was on the nest. Suspected she was the producer of the 2 brown eggs we've had over the 2 past days, while ?Krasi had laid 2 soft shells (she'd been in the eglu & made the usual noises!). :? Didn't free-range them yesterday in case they'd eaten too much greenstuff.... and it worked :P

When Miso came out we found ...not 1 egg :P ... not 2 eggs :P:D ....BUT 3 eggs :clap::clap::shock::D:lol:

Well done girls :D:P They were beige 45g, brown 46g and a beige-brown 37g (we think Kilo's first egg!!!). All perfect 8)

Guess free-ranging as their egg-laying tackle is gearing up can have its pitfalls

It was the most fantastic experience and even greater because we're both at home this week with the builders (work delayed from March).

It meant we were able to hold all 3 eggs while they were still warm :D .

One of the builders is now doing his research to get his own hens so we're giving him the Omlet guide and bits to help him persuade his wife. We had just collected the eggs when they arrived so it was something he experienced too! :P

Of course a BIG thankyou to everyone on the Forum who have been so helpful with posts, questions and answers. It's been great to have a group of interested and informed folk around us to help us on our way. Give yourselves a clap too :clap:

Whoa...hold on there girls

Today Krasi and Miso each laid an egg in the nest. Miso seemed to take ages and Krasi was in & out of the eglu while waiting her turn. Meanwhile it seems that Kilo, who was in the run, couldn't wait & laid 2 eggs with thin shells in the 1/2 hour gap between checking them. One had been pecked open where it was particularly thin and the other had a small paper thin area in the shell.

We decided not to use either of these & will keep an eye on potential egg pecking. Really glad it was this week that this happened when we're at home all the time due to the builders.
