Phosphorus
Well all seemed to be going very smoothly Put the White Star in with my existing girls of 2 days last night and they all seemed to get along fine. Watched them go to bed tonight and the White Star seems to be giving the others the occasional peck on the beak, legs or side. Am I right in thinking it is just her trying to mark her position and that all this will settle down in a few days when they all realise she is boss She wasn't just doing it to the one girl, I saw her do it to another once the first one had moved over in the house. I know the pecking order thing can look quite nasty but am I right in thinking unless it turns into a bloodbath I just leave them to sort it out? Felt a bit guilty shutting the pophole door tonight but then thought they could always hide from her in the nesting box Anyway thoughts would be good. There didn't seem to be much aggression from her during the day - just when they went into the Cube tonight - hadn't really seen her peck anyone before (she probably hid it from me)
MedusA
I know the pecking order thing can look quite nasty but am I right in thinking unless it turns into a bloodbath I just leave them to sort it out? That's what I would recommend TBH. They have to sort themselves out and the sooner they know where they stand, the better. Unless it becomes really bad, of course, in which case a bit of "time out" for the bully to cool her heels.
Phosphorus
Grand - just wanted to be sure that I wasn't being an evil chook mum and making anyone suffer. There wasn't really any sign of any pecking order being sorted out before she arrived so someone did really have to take the lead I think the stronger minded ones must be starting to get sure of themselves
Phosphorus
No aggression this morning and no bloodbath found on opening the pop hole so I hope I can say that they are working it out
