Someone told me that the chicken pellets has grit in it, is that true as we have been giving our ladies grit as well

Pellets have a calcium source in it such as ground oyster shell.

 

They need the co"Ooops, word censored!"r mixed poultry grit too, particularly if they are free ranging, so you have been doing the right thing.

I give mine grit and oyster shell in addition to the layers pellets. I think that it can't but help, especially when they get extra things like corn that they need the additional grit for

Pellets are sold as a complete diet, incl. grit, but I have always given mine a bowl of mixed grit (stones that act as teeth & oyster shell for making egg shells). I also noticed that they eat far more of the oyster shell in comparison tothe stone so now also buy oyster shell on its own so they get a higher proportion of shell in their 'mixed grit'.

 

Mine seem to get through ½kg a month of grit.
