Quietening them down....

Recommended Posts

 I'm happy to say we've received the second egg from Queeny yesterday :) It was still little, but had a really good shell on it so I'm not worried about her being a wobbly egg layer anymore... Still doing watery poops (both Vivienne and Queeny now), and I've got a horrid feeling it's worms (because that could be a symptom, right?). Anyway, I ordered some Verm-X from omlet at the end of last week, so hopefully it'll be through soon!

ANYWAY.... With all the excitement of Queeny laying Vivienne has become incredibly vocal, and Queeny seems to like laying her eggs at around 7-8ish in the morning (even if she doesn't lay, she seems in the habit of popping into the nesting box for a while and them coming out). The only thing that could quieten her this morning was me sitting at the back door whilst reading the paper, and a handful of corn  I can't do this every morning and some mornings I'm at work early, and I value my sleep!! Any ideas of how to keep her quiet, or is that pretty much impossible?

Just read a post just a little further down and saw someone else had asked pretty much the same question  Apart from food and distraction, no one seems to have any other ideas  I'll have have to hope for the best!

if you rush out there and treat her every time she makes a noise....you'll soon have a very noisy flock :lol::lol::lol:

first of all, remember that it sounds much louder to you cos it's mingled with embarrasment

also remember that it doesn't last for nearly as long as your average car alarm goes on for

the most grumpy neighbours can usually be placated with fresh eggs!

and finally, I believe it takes about 25hrs to make an egg.....and so the 'announcement' will be an hour later each day

It will get easier to ignore, promise :D
