turnips, a failure? :0(

Recommended Posts

DH sowed our turnip seeds in the new year, he was a bit keen perhaps

they now look like a field of oil seed rape, long stalks with yellow flowers but no turnips underneath :(

should he pull them up and chalk it up to experience? If they're flowering then there should be turnips shouldn't there?

If they are flowering it means that they have bolted and any turnips that are there will be woody, this happens when the growing conditions are not quite right usually to do with temperature changes etc.

If you sow another row now and keep it well watered you should have turnips in about 6 weeks if only small ones but they will be so tender :D
