Still after a week they are petrified of me going near them, How long does it noramlly take for them to come round? Only worried coz soon I will want to apply red mite powder & dont want to give them a heart attack at the same time I have applied red mite powder the their next & dust bath so its not too urgent to get close to the ladys yet x x x Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
TAJ Posted May 18, 2008 Share Posted May 18, 2008 Get down low, so you are not towering above them - start feeding treats, such as mixed corn on the ground near your feet, so they get use to being near you, then hold corn in your to encourage them to feed from your hand. Slowly slowly is the way - once they associate coming to you as a good thing they will be less timid about actually being oicked up. Egluntyne Posted May 18, 2008 Share Posted May 18, 2008 Good advice from Taj. Why not go out to them at night and lift them out of the cube and hold them and talk to them whilst they are drowsy. It will get them used to being handled, and will get you used to handling them. You could just stroke them first if you are a bit nervous about lifting them out.
