BooBoo
Can I ask how heavy a guinea pig should be? My guinea pigs are female and 12 months old. They weigh 950g - 1kg each They have a large indoor cage and outdoor run and don't eat unsuitable food (e.g. guinea pig treats, toast etc). They also do not eat more than a RDA of guinea pig nuggets.....but they just seem very big!! (and cuddley and sweet ) What do your guinea pigs weigh??? Scooby
Last time I was at the vets with one of my boys they weighed him and said he weighed 1kg. , but the vet said that's about average. My boys are 15 months old, they do look a bit cuddly but we love them anyway Been trying to post pics for a while but for some reason I can't get photobucket to re-size them to fit. Will have another go when I've got a spare few minutes!
pacman
Up to 1.2 Kg is normal for an adult pig.
cavysqueak
I had a male who was quite small until he had a nasty virus, which it took 4 months of TLC for him to get over. In that time his weight had gone down to such a point that I was wondering if it was fair to keep him struggling on.... Then my last ditch attempt worked & he managed to get better - & then he ballooned! He was huge - the biggest male I've ever had, but he was really solid. So because he wasn't flabby I let him carry on as normal - he lived to be six and a half! I have two quite large females now - but they do have fluffy fur which makes it look even worse than it is!
