Berliner Beer
Well they were delivered at 11am today. All of them fab! They have already been eating out of my 6 year old daughters hand! My question is: do i just wait for them to head inside the eglu. its now 2110hrs and they are still out in the pen eating and drinking or should i do the torch trick as decribed in the literature? question 2) should I remove the grub container and bring it inside until morning. thanks Mark & Frances.....pictures to follow....at some point
cluckbok
Welcome to the forum! I would maybe give them another 5 mins then do the torch trick. We don't bring our grub or glug in at night we just leave it out in the run. Not had any probs so far.
Hen Watch
Glad to hear day 1 is a success. Mine were out free ranging until 8.30pm today. Then I shut them in their run and they have now all taken themselves off to bed inside their eglu. So it would be a good time now to pop a torch in the eglu as your new girls might not realise that it is beddy byes time now. As they are locked in their run, they won't come to any harm but if the torch doesn't work you could grab them and pop them in through the eggport if it gets too late. It is good practice to bring the grub in at night if it still has food in as this deters vermin. However, I would be telling fibs if I said I did this every night
