Lib
Well, I don't know about anyone else but I'm fed up with the pesky little critters already and we've not even had summer yet! Unfortunately the ants are now managing to get into the girls hutch. I'm very reluctant to spray anything (even though the packaging just say that it's only poisonous for aquatics etc). I'm just a little bit worried that some of the spray will go onto their straw/hay etc and then they'll munch on it. Does anybody have any ideas on how to keep the ants out of the hutch? Any ideas would be gratefully received. Plus I know my girlies are not very keen on sharing their beds with anyone else!! Many thanks Liz
Lera
Ants are supposed to dislike peppermint oil. I don't know how rabbits feel about it!
Hockeyaholic
I use citronella oil for flies but not sure if thats supposed to work for ants too...we dont get ants in the hutch though, so it might help.
Christian
Have you tried Diatom? Is it supposed to work on ants
Lib
Thanks very much for all your suggestions - guess my shopping list for the weekend is geting bigger! Regards Liz
FruitandNutCake
I use the ant bait stations - underneath an upturned heavy flower pot or uspdide down sieve - just something to keep animals and children away until it works. If you can track the ants back to the nest and place the bait station near the nest, it may be easier.
Lib
Thanks for that Michelle. Since I couldn't get any Diatom from my local countrywide shop, I bought a couple of ant bait stations instead. I've put a couple under their hutch and also a couple on the patio. Touch wood, I've not seen many ants lately (but there again it could be due to the horrible weather that we've been having!!).
