Omlet Staff hanns Posted June 5, 2008 Omlet Staff Share Posted June 5, 2008 Hi, we have had an enquiry from a programme maker who would like to interview an eglu owner for whom one of the main reasons that they keep chickens is that it saves them money on eggs. Now I know we all like to spoil our chickens as well so this may not apply to many people but if you do grow your own veg and generally appreciate the fact that you aren't having to buy all your product could you get in touch please! Just email me johannes@omlet.co.uk or call Omlet on 0845 450 2056 and ask to talk to me and i'll tell you more. Thanks! johannes PS. Lets spread the word - chickens are eggcellent! Penny
Hi Johannes, I think it would be really hard to demonstrate much of a saving once the cost of the Eglu, chickens, food, Flubenvet, bark chippings, etc., is all taken into account. I do grow my own veg and it's the same story - the cost of tools, seeds, hut, greenhouse and so on means it'll never be officially in profit. I am really much more interested in freshness and confidence in the provenance of my food. Be interesting to hear what everyone else thinks - is anyone turning a nifty profit - maybe it's just me!!
