clarissa the fox survivor

Recommended Posts

:D Clarissa is SUCH a gem. She must be a very old soul... as some of you will be aware, she was the sole survivor of an opportunistic fox strike. She now has new ex-batt friends whom she is tolerating...but what she REALLY wants is to be with big mama chook...ME! I let her out while I'm weeding (which is like the Forth Road bridge at the moment, 1 acre planted garden is NOT funny after torrential rain and then a blast of sun). She sticks to my heels, seemingly fully aware that to do otherwise would expose her to hungry Mummy Fox. An old City friend calle din and was utterly bewitched by her devotion and trust...she just looks up at me and sort of quizzes me as to where we might go next to uncover some delish worms. It is entrancing.

I have horses and cats and they all have very strong and distinct personalities...I never expected quite so much character from a hen. It's truly humbling. The ex-colleague observed me bumbling about in the borders, chatting away to Clarissa and I realised that I am only a nano hop away from being a totally batty gallinophile. Hurrah!

pair of peacocks arrive July 3rd...and barnvelders and wyandottes shortly after...Hooked , or what????!!!
