Does anyone else think it would be useful to have another nest box on the cube? maybe on the opposite side?

I have 6 chickens and get 4-6 eggs a day they have made 2 definate nests in the nest box and so they are split between the 2, so they are laying on top of other eggs., if I had to leave them for 48 hours I would possibly come back to 8-10 eggs in the nest box and so am prett ysure there'd me some cracked ones, also what if 3 girls want to lay at once, we did find an egg in the run the other day and I though that might have been what that was - one of them not being able to hold it!

But if the cube can hold 10 chickens is the one nest box suitable?

Sorry for rambling it was just an idea

I've not really had a problem with just one nestbox. I guess my girls just aren't bothered about budging up as there's quite often three laying at once.

When one of girls went broody the other week, I couldn't bear her to be out in the rain as it was very heavy so I made a new nest box out of a biscuit tin and filled it with hemcore. I popped a fake egg in so they new what it was for and did they use it? No!

It did seem like a good place to use as a toilet though

There would be the other problem of making the cube wider or the roosting area smaller to accomodate an extra nest box.

The nest box is spot on as far as I can see.

I have had 4 hens in it at the smae time and no mishapps.

I is much bigger than in the Eglu, easily twice as big, and the recommendation is one nest box per 4 hens.

If you are having traffic jams, why not put a heavy plant pot filled with nesting material for any latecomers to use.
