munchkin
I'm a little worried for Barbara. I think she laid her 1st egg this morning - softie unfortunately - however it was at the end of the run when i went out to them this morning. Margot sleeps in the nest box and Barbara roosts next to her on the bars. I am concerned that Barbara wanted to lay her 1st egg this morning but was unable to get access to the nest as Margot was still in it Any ideas of how to encourage Margot to let Barbara have a turn on the nest??? Thanks
Snowy
Don't worry. It seems that they do tend to lay soft eggs in the run or on the roosting bars, rather than on the nest. And if a chook wants to lay on the nest, it will take more than another chicken being there to stop her! Mine play chicken pyramids and sit on top of each other to lay (they do have plenty of room, just all prefer one area )
munchkin
Awww I love the sound of a chicken pyramid . Thankyou - it puts my mind at rest - hopefully Barbara will nudge Margot out of the way in the morning
