munchkin
Hi everyone I've had 2 chickens since 12/4/08 in eglu and standard run. My hubby is making a 12ft x 12ft run for Margot and Barbara and we are wondering if we could accommodate 3 ex batts. I was thinking about getting a 2nd hand eglu for the exbatts but I am worried they will fight with each other and Barbara and Margot. I am also concerned that they may introduce disease. If we decide to get the exbatts do you think that 12ftx12ft will be large enough for 5 chucks. They will all be able to free range but only after 5pm as we are at work until then. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks
Egluntyne
If you keep them in separate accommodation you can observe them and treat it as a quarantine period.....to rule out disease and to allow them time to settle and build up a bit of strength. Very sensible to consider a second Eglu. **This article** might help you. The 12x12 will be luxury for the 5 hens.
munchkin
Hi eglutine Thanks for the advice. The article is very useful. Sorry to read about little nuggett. I hope you and the other chucks aren't missing her too much
Egluntyne
Thanks. That is very kind. I keep doing head counts to make sure that no-one has done a runner and panicking momentarily because I can only see eleven.
