Help - two days of soft shelled eggs on roosting bars!

Recommended Posts

I know this isn't a new topic but.......

:?:?:? The girls are now 24 weeks old and have been laying perfect eggs for the last 4 weeks. However yesterday and today one of them (don't know which one) has laid two softies in a row. I don't understand why this should be when all the others are fine so they are obviously getting enough grit etc.

Is this something to worry about!!!

Reassurance please.

I would guess it's normal as they haven't been laying long. I hadn't had a soft shell until pepper started laying - she was the last to start and laid three soft shells in the first two weeks, she still lays the odd one now, though the others never have :?

My chickens are about 28 weeks and one of them still lays a softie every now and then.

However, she looks fit and well so I don't worry. I put limestone flour in their feed and when she does lay a normal egg the shell is perfect.

All chickens are different.
