KarmaMama
Just heard on the local radio that on our local BBC news programme (called Spotlight) tonight at 6.30pm there is live footage a fox killing a chicken. Then they interview and film 'sharp shooters' who are being called in by farmers, to shoot the foxes as there are so many around now. So as well as seeing a chicken attacked by a fox, they are showing the fox being shot too. The radio host went on to say be warned, you may be upset to see a fox get shot! I was kind of thinking, after seeing a chicken killed, I would almost welcome the 'sharp shooting' bit. An unusual subject to film, I know, but apparently they are trying to raise awareness of the amount of foxes around and why they should be culled, as there are so many fox supporters about that keep objecting. They think once they have seen what happend to the chicken, this will really start to change peoples minds. Anyway, if you should want to see this, and you have sky TV you can tune in to the regional BBC channels if you go to channel 971 to 988 you will be able to find BBC 1 S West, the programme starts at 6.30pm tonight and it is called Spotlight. I'm going to record it, but not really sure if I want to watch it I might end up with fox attack nightmares Jacquie x
KarmaMama
Plucked up the courage to watch the programme, and wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. They showed the fox prowling around then he snatched a chicken - the "Warrener" shot the fox whilst it had the chicken, and when he went over the chicken was still alive - a few ruffled feathers - but ran back to the flock still clucking. Apparently this particular fox had killed 35 chickens on the farm the day before. Though I have to say, if the fence had been higher than a meter, then I doubt the fox would have got in. Just thought I would update you J x
