Ros
Hi, I have used shredded paper in the 'laying' section of my eglu; much to my amazement one of my hens decided to eat some as though it were spaghetti it disappeared into her mouth, then another piece, then my slightly dimmer hen copied her! I have now chopped up all the paper into shorter lengths. Will the girls be ok? I am imagining impaction etc, but surely paper will move through If anyone had told me last week I would be chopping up shredded paper for hens I would not have believed it. cluckbok
Hi Ya, We use shredded paper with no problems. I don't think that's gonna be good for them eating that. How about trying aubiose or hemcore? They are naughty girls eh
Mutrix Farmers
we use shredded paper topped with a bit of straw (for the authentic barnyard feel ????!!!! ) Charlotte as actually picking bits of straw out of the nest box and dropping it through the roosting bars, probably trying to read my credit card statement!! Never noticed any of the girls eating the paper though.
Keanie Bean
Mine ate the paper at first but now seem to have got bored of it. As long as they dont keep doing it I wouldnt worry too much. Sarah.x
