He has sectioned off a portion of the garden to safely put my chooks in whilst his lovely bedding plants are insitu over the summer months, now my chooks were a present to me from husband via a friend who picked them, but she picked the wrong type of chickens, Sikies they look lovely are dosile and only lay @100 eggs a year so not brilliant for me. So after much thought espcially with one being broody for a month now Im going to sell them and buy two new chooks that lay eggs all year round are dosile and small and good with children, Any suggestions please! cluckbok Posted June 17, 2008 Share Posted June 17, 2008 I would echo the above posting or how about a Columbine, they are blue/green eggs layers though only 80% will lay coloured the rest lay white like ours. She's fab though is our "Matilda" very very ridiculously friendly. Or a Calder Ranger/ISA Brown which are similar. The ex-batts are same breed. They really friendly too. The Columbine is supposed to lay around 300 eggs per year, Calder Ranger similar number aswell. Oh I wish I could rehome your silkies, I would love same but not got space! I think they are gorgeous.
