Cyclescheme

Has anyone taken part in the cyclesheme?

I am going to ask my employer tomorrow if they would consider taking part in it.

I bought a new car in April but with rising fuel prices I would like to cycle to work. when we move the journey to work will be 3 miles along a lovely quiet but slightly hilly country lane. I enjoy walking but would not have enough time to do the 3 miles after seeing Natalie and Jack sorted for school.

I am terribly unfit :? and have decided an electric bike would be perfect :D Electric bikes are expensive but I have worked out I could save over 40% on the cost of one through the cyclescheme.

This is the scheme www.cyclescheme.co.uk

I set up this scheme where I used to work about 3 years ago. Bikes4work it was called then. I didn't participate as I lived too far away to cycle to work and already have a bike that I have only used about 3 times in the past 4 years. I didn't think about getting an electric one!

Its a good way of reducing your tax bill providing you are likely to be staying with your employer for the duration of the scheme. It does mean you can get a much more expensive bike than you would otherwise be able to, but make sure you check and understand the smallprint in the agreement with regard to early termination or breaks in employment (eg maternity leave).

Happy peddling :D
